yeah, the diesel engines are also has higher prices, and in my country the petrol is cheapher than the diesel... The only 1 reason beside the diesel it's that it uses less fuel... BTW I can't stand it's speech, and diesel cars also very smoky...

True. Small turbocharged engines, especially 1.4 twinchargers from VW are really ones of the best in the market now. In the low revs there's grunt like in a big naturally aspirated engine (because of the supercharger) so everyday driving a manual car is very comfortable. High rev end is like in a Civic Type R, lots of revs, lots of power, great noise. Fuel consumption fairly low due to small cubic capacity and limited suction losses. How can anyone want a diesel clatterbox now?

exactly ! the diesel motors have big torqe, but it need to be turbo or supercharged... Who don't wanna beleive this, try to compare a 1,4l turbo petrol car with the same model, but in 1,9l TDI...

regardless of the displacement rules, the R10 success is due to fact that it doesn't have to come into the pits as often as its petrol driven rivals. In endurance racing its the number of laps you clock in rather than position that matters. So that means the Diesels can stay out longer and put in more laps than the thirsty petrols. Furthermore its predecessor the R8 was already a petrol driven LeMans dominator.

that may be true, but its still a freaking brilliant engine!

The whole mystery of Audi R10 TDI success is ruthlessly simple. Turbocharged or supercharged petrol engines are only allowed to have a maximum displacement of 4000cc. Diesels are allowed to have 5500cc. And that's all to be said here. If diesels are soooo good, let's race the R10 TDI limited to 4000cc with its petrol rivals and we'll soon reveal the true "TDI Power" :-] Or TDI Weakass :-]
